Coffee and lunch

Sheffield city centre has many coffee and lunch spots, including Tampa Coffee, 200 Degrees, Marmadukes, Albies, Birdhouse etc. If you're keen on staying near the Millennium Gallery check out the Millennium Gallery itself, the Winter Gardens, Howst.

Pubs and bars

Sheffield has a vast number of pubs and bars, many independent, and many that are frequented by members of K-Int. To name a few we would recommend: the Old Shoe, Triple Point Brewery, The Fargate, Beer Engine, Vocation, Off the Beaten Track, etc. If you find yourself in Kelham Island, we recommend The Fat Cat, Riverside, The Kelham Island Tavern, Millowners Arms or Gardners Rest.

It's also no secret many in the Arches community are up for a song after some drinks. If you're after karaoke, check out Mojo or Roxy Ball Room.

Attractions

The Sheffield Museums group has a number of museums including the Weston Park Museum, Kelham Island Museum, and Millennium Gallery.

Gardens such as the Winter Gardens, Peace Gardens and the Botanical Gardens are worth a visit, and popular parks such as Weston Park, Endcliffe Park, Millhouses Park and Graves Park.

About the city

With a third of the city located within the Peak District National Park, Sheffield is widely recognised as the UK's greenest city, with 61% of the city classified as green space, over 250 parks, and a higher tree-to-person ratio. In Sheffield, scenic views and green areas are right on the doorstep. Popular walks and trails include Rivelin Valley, the Five Weirs Walk, and the Sheffield Round Walk. Venturing further into the Peak District can take as little as a 15 minute train journey or a 30 minute bus ride. Hathersage, Froggatt, Bamford, Longshaw and Chatsworth are a few popular destinations.

Steel and cutlery

Sheffield was once the steel, iron and cutlery production capital of the world, with evidence dating back 700 years. This industrial heritage resulted in the name "Steel City". The hills provided the necessary raw materials, with the seven rivers providing water supply, and forests wood and charcoal. Cutlery production was recorded as early as the 14th century, and became more popular in the 16th century. Innovations didn’t stop, as Sheffield was instrumental in developing high-strength low-alloy steels throughout the 20th Century. Today, it is still home to the only independent steel works in the world, Forgemasters


Art, music and culture

The city is full of art and history; every street likely has a story to tell. Sheffield Museums such as the Weston Park Museum, Kelham Island Museum, and Millennium Gallery covering local artists and city's history. Next-door to the Millennium Gallery you'll find the award-winning Winter Gardens where you can explore 2,500 plants from around the world, and the outdoor Peace Gardens.

It goes without saying that Sheffield is very well known for its music scene, raising globally successful bands such as Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, Def Leppard, The Human League, just to name a few!

Sheffield has one of the largest theatre complexes outside of London, centred around the Crucible theatre, which is also the home of world Snooker. But Snooker isn't the only sport the city is known for. Sheffield is also the birthplace of football and home to the world's first football club, Sheffield FC.
